Golf games, explained
Every game below is built into our free scorecard. Pick as many as you want when you create a round and the app keeps score — including handicap strokes, carry-overs and presses — and tells everyone who owes whom at the end.
Stroke Play 1+ players
Total strokes, gross and net. The leaderboard every round gets.
Lowest total score wins. Net subtracts each player's course handicap.
Stableford 2+ players
Points per hole: bogey 1, par 2, birdie 3, eagle 4 (net).
Net double bogey or worse = 0, bogey = 1, par = 2, birdie = 3, eagle = 4, albatross = 5. Most points wins; money settles on the point difference between each pair of players.
Match Play 2 or 2v2 players
Win holes, not strokes. 1v1 or 2v2 (best ball) using teams A/B.
Lowest net score wins the hole. Status is shown as "2 UP thru 7". With teams, each side's best net ball counts.
Nassau 2+ (best as 2 or 2v2) players
Three bets: front 9, back 9 and overall. Optional auto-press.
Match play bets on the front nine, back nine and full 18. With 2 players or teams A/B it is match play (auto-press starts a new bet when a side goes 2 down). With 3+ individuals, low net total wins each segment.
Skins 2+ players
Low score on a hole wins a skin. Ties carry over.
A player wins a skin by having the outright lowest net score on a hole. If players tie, the skin carries to the next hole (optional). Each skin is worth the stake from every other player.
Best Ball (Four-Ball) 4+ in teams players
Teams count their lowest net score on each hole.
Assign teams. Each hole, the team's best net score counts. Lowest team total wins; with exactly two teams it settles like a match.
Wolf 3–5 (best with 4) players
Rotating Wolf picks a partner — or goes Lone/Blind Wolf for more.
The Wolf rotates each hole. After watching tee shots the Wolf picks a partner, or goes Lone Wolf (2x) before choosing, or Blind Wolf (3x) before anyone tees off. Best net ball per side wins; each loser pays each winner the multiplier × stake.
Sixes (Round Robin) exactly 4 players
4 players, partners rotate every 6 holes.
Holes 1–6: players 1&2 vs 3&4; 7–12: 1&3 vs 2&4; 13–18: 1&4 vs 2&3. Each six-hole segment is a best-ball match.
Las Vegas exactly 4 (2v2) players
2v2: combine scores into a two-digit number (4 & 5 = 45).
Each team puts its lower score first to make a number. The difference between team numbers is paid in points. Optional flip: a birdie flips the opponents' number (high score first).
Snake 2+ players
Three-putt and you hold the snake. Last holder pays.
Enter putts. Whoever three-putts takes the snake; the player holding it at the end pays every other player. In "growing" mode the penalty grows with every three-putt.
Bingo Bango Bongo 2+ players
Points for first on the green, closest once on, first in.
Three points per hole: Bingo (first on the green), Bango (closest to the pin once everyone is on), Bongo (first in the hole). Great for mixed abilities.
Nines (9-Point) exactly 3 players
Threesome game: 5-3-1 points per hole, ties split.
Each hole distributes 9 points: low net 5, second 3, third 1. Ties split the points.
Quota (Chicago) 1+ players
Beat your quota: 36 minus handicap, points for each score.
Points: bogey 1, par 2, birdie 4, eagle 8 (gross). Quota = 36 − course handicap (scaled for 9 holes). Most points over quota wins.
Dots / Junk 2+ players
Side points for birdies, greenies, sandies and more.
Automatic dots for birdies (1) and eagles (2). Tap Greenie (closest on par 3 and makes par), Sandy (up-and-down from a bunker) and Barkie (par after hitting a tree) on each player.
Handicaps in our games
Course handicaps use the World Handicap System formula: Handicap Index × Slope ÷ 113 + (Course Rating − Par), with an optional allowance (e.g. 85–90% for four-ball). Stroke play, Stableford, Skins and Quota use full course handicaps. Head-to-head games (match play, Nassau, Wolf, Sixes, Vegas, Nines) play off the low handicap: the best player gets zero strokes and everyone else gets the difference, allocated by each hole's handicap ranking.
Money features are for friendly games between friends. Please follow your local laws and your club's rules.
