7 ways to pay less for golf
- Play twilight. Most public courses drop rates 30–50% in the last 4–5 hours of daylight. Check our hourly forecast to pick a calm evening.
- Get the resident card. City courses (Bethpage, Torrey Pines, Harding Park and many more) charge residents far less.
- Book weekdays and shoulder season. Dynamic pricing means Tuesday at 1 PM can be half the cost of Saturday at 8 AM.
- Walk. Skipping the cart saves $20–$60 a round where walking is allowed — filter by "Walking allowed".
- Use tee-time marketplaces. Hot deals and prepaid rates can be dramatically lower than the rack rate.
- Play 9. Many courses sell 9-hole rates at just over half price.
- Join the loyalty or player's club. Frequent-player programs often pay for themselves in 3–4 rounds.
